Newham Swimming Club Codes of Conduct and Ethics
SWIMMERS, PARENTS, CARERS, TEACHERS AND COACHES
The aim of the Newham Swimming Club (‘the Club’) is to promote swimming and its related disciplines. The Club is committed to treat everyone equally within the context of their activity, regardless of sex, ethnic origin, religion, disability or political persuasion. The Club believes that the welfare of children is everyone’s responsibility and that all children and young people have a right to have fun, be safe and protected from harm.
As a club affiliated to the Amateur Swimming Association (‘the ASA’) we are expected to conduct our activities within the rules of the Association. These rules include the Equity Policy which is displayed on the Club’s Website. In addition, all club members (swimmers, teachers, coaches, parents and carers) are expected to conform to the Codes of Conduct as recommended and amended from time to time by the Executive Committee.
Furthermore, the Committee, Coaching/Teaching staff and members of the Club work hard to build positive relationships with the local authorities and pool staff. Their efforts should not be undermined or compromised by irresponsible behaviour of members.
Newham Swimming Club is a well-respected club. By following the Code of Conduct and adopting a positive attitude to swimming an ethos can be created in the Club in which excellence in the sport can be strived for and hopefully achieved.
